Ballarat ICT Ltd in 2010
Ballarat ICT- Information and Communications Technologies.
Ballarat is increasingly being acknowledged for the strength and innovativeness of its ICT industry. In 2010, Ballarat ICT Limited will continue to build on achievements made, with the aim of national and international recognition.
Ballarat ICT Ltd is a not-for-profit partnership of industry, government and educational institutions dedicated to sustaining and growing a globally competitive information, communication and technology (ICT) industry in Ballarat.
At the beginning of 2010, Ballarat ICT Limited appointed Ian Fry as Executive Officer, who has been appointed to operationalise policy and directions of the Board. Ian has been involved with Communication and the Information Technology industry for over 20 years, the last 15 years in executive management positions.
Mr Fry joins Ballarat ICT Limited with a breadth of knowledge and expertise, acquired over the past 30 years within this sector. Mr Fry will be an important player in continuing to build on Ballarat’s ICT industry capacities and achievements.
Ms Taryn Davies has been appointed as Executive Assistant to the Executive Officer. Ms Davies has previously worked within this sector and her experience and commitment to the growth of Ballarat’s ICT industry will prove an asset to the ongoing operations and future development of Ballarat’s ICT economy.
The team of Mr Fry and Ms Davies, together with the capable and committed Board of Directors, will take the Ballarat ICT industry into a new age, and make Ballarat an exemplar for other regional and non-regional cities, nationally and internationally.
Ballarat ICT Ltd is the region’s peak industry body for Information and Communication Technologies. Its purpose is to provide a diverse range of capabilities to its members including leadership, advocacy, lobbying, information, promotion etc. It proactively and energetically represents the interests of all those regional ICT stakeholders that wish to see Ballarat build on and maximise its ICT strengths and position in Australia.
Ballarat ICT Ltd will continue to provide strong and informed leadership and support within and beyond the region in relation to the implementation of the National Broadband Network (NBN). The proposed NBN will connect 90% of all Australian premises with fibre-based services and 10% with next generation wireless and satellite technologies.
Ballarat ICT is leading the local IT industry to significantly enhance ICT research and innovation, and provide Ballarat with world class ICT infrastructure.
