Ballarat ICT Capability Study

The City of Ballarat has recently appointed Buchan Consulting to undertake a Skills Capability/Gap Analysis in the ICT sector.

The main aim is to research and map the current skills capabilities in Ballarat, and to identify and to record the current and proposed skills shortages in the ICT sector in ways that:

  • Identify a specific skills set in shortage
  • Provide a workable direction for the City and industry to adopt and adapt to address these shortages.

It is expected that representatives will commence contacting some businesses shortly with a request to participate in either a telephone survey, or a face to face interview, it is hoped that members of the cluster will be supportive of this initiative by the City of Ballarat, and can provide Buchan Consulting with the information they require to produce a valuable and productive report with recommendations that can be applied to ensure that Ballarat remains at the forefront of the ICT sector into the future.

This is an exciting event for women and men working in ICT (partners welcome).

Last year Ballarat was the only regional area represented at this event with a table of participants. Awards will be presented to three ladies who have made a significant contribution in encouraging girls to take up ICT as a career and in supporting women working in ICT.    All in all, an action packed evening accompanied by a 3 course dinner and fine wines.
